Spearfishing - Little Barrier

We have a number of dedicated spearo charters with destinations in the Huuraki Gulf. We target certain species to maximise your fun, no fish? then we move onto a new location. Catch a feed and take it home. This trip to Little Barrier is for those who are more experienced at spearfishing.

Trip’s typically start 08:30 and run all day until 16:00 or you get too tired! Depths are optional and can be chosen to your capabilities. For the experienced diver we can offer great depths for the really big fish!

Many large Snapper often shared their holes or swam through the weed above them. Large shoals of Blue Mao Mao, are also found there. Kingfish are often seen swimming and the drop offs. Little Barrier offers some of the best diving close to Auckland.

Weather conditions and numbers will affect destination choice. If you have a particular site you wish to hunt, please advise on booking. Charters are an all day event from our dedicated boat. We do not do this on Scuba this is a dedicated Freediving style charter only.

Our success rate is high but it is down to the customer to shoot the fish, we do not catch them for you. Please be aware sharks are common in New Zealand when hunting, whilst not a major threat they will be around.

Sometimes our activities may have to be rescheduled due to situations outside of our control, such as poor weather. Please note we reschedule in such situations, as described in our terms and conditions.

Please note that NZ Diving will offer alternate dates if conditions do not allow for safe travel or if minimum numbers are not met. In case of a cancellation we will reschedule the charter, we can put you on a different dive charter, you can use the amount paid as credit, transfer the credit to a different person or help with a letter for your travel insurance. Overseas participants are advised to carry travel insurance in case rescheduling is unsuitable.
